No other machines are experiencing the same problem. Nothing I do will bring the function back.Īll of our PCs are on Win10 Pro, and the PC in question was working fine until yesterday. How do I display that button Power Map, Power Pivot and Power View add-ins are installed. Excel 2016 query editor errors viewing install#
It does open MS Query (minimized in the taskbar), but after thinking for 10 seconds or so, it opens an error stating that it cannot open MS Query because it is not installed! I have gone so far as to uninstall Office 2010 and re-install multiple times, even trying to install a different version (2013). Im trying to look for the 'New Query' button from the Get & Transform group in the Data ribbon but it isnt there. So, the thing to keep in mind is that if you are trying to accomplish something, and don’t see a command icon, dig into the functions because there is a good chance you. M code has many more functions than are available in the ribbon. We have one machine that will not open the wizard. In the Power Query Editor, as you click the command icons, Excel is actually writing M code behind the scenes. Usually, we can open Excel (any version, but I'm using 2010 or 2013 for testing), click the Data tab, and choose "From Other Sources", and select "From MS Query", and a wizard pops up, with MS Query minimized in the taskbar until we are done creating the query, and all data is then sent into Excel. Usually, this is not a problem, and I have an ODBC connection set up on all the machines that need it. We are used to retrieving data from a table or a view, but sometimes we need to filter the data using parameters like using a WHERE clause in a SQL query. We use Excel to run SQL queries against our AS400 (iSeries) databases. Excel is an easy way to retrieve external data from SQL Server or other database platforms.
